The founder of the firm, John Ray, established the predecessor firm, John Ray & Associates, in 1983. The firm became Ray, Mitev & Associates, LLP in 2013. Mr. Mitev has successfully tried cases and conducted hearings in the District, County, Family and Supreme Courts, as well as successfully represented clients before various administrative agencies. A former bureau chief for the New York Law Journal, where he covered the New York courts from Manhattan to Albany for the nation’s most prestigious legal daily newspaper, Mr. Mitev developed a taste for litigation by representing clients who were denied unemployment benefits. Ms. Berkman joined Ray, Mitev & Associates, LLP in February of 2017. Having previously worked in Suffolk County in the matrimonial field, Ms. Berkman is thrilled to expand her legal expertise and appears in courts throughout the State of New York on cases ranging from traffic infractions to commercial litigation, to family actions.
